As an artist I strive to emulate the beauty that surrounds us through expressing myself with oils. I am constantly intrigued by the duality between light and shadow, tone and value and of course most important of all, to me, color!
Impressionism and surrealism are my two favorite styles in which to paint. While fusing these two styles together, I create something that I refer to as "radial balance." For me, radial balance is a play on the Fibonacci spiral or the golden ratio. That everything organically moves and radiates outward in a perfect form through a circular motion. By using heavy handed applications of oil paint while painting these interpretive landscapes I create a sense of motion and luminosity. Through this style of painting, I feel that each "edging on abstract" piece that I create has its very own frequency. Like a snowflake, it has its own identifying pattern. No two are ever alike.
Using pallet knives, paint brushes and sometimes even my fingertips, I create scenes that radiate depth and volume through saturated color and mosaic like motion. I just love painting textural and colorful scenes because to me...
The paint alone speaks as much about the art as the subject matter does.
Many of my paintings are themed from the incredible scenes that I have in my own back yard. Living in Idaho has afforded me an endless supply of natural settings in which to base my pieces.
Thank you for sharing in my art endeavors and kindly continue to travel with me on my artistic mission to bring the light into the spaces in which we reside.
